Spent the weekend trying to fight off a cold. And well, needless to say I lost the battle. When I woke up this morning I discovered it had latched onto me with all it's might. Still I got up, dressed and headed off to work. Can't let a little cold get me down, even if my nose is running like a river. So this evening I lounged around on my new love seat watching TV. Well, not new new, but new to me. Actually this weekend a friend of the family was nice enough to donate an old love seat and chair to the lets furnish John's apartment drive.
It's getting late so I think I'll go find a couple of corks for my nose and get to bed. Ok ok so maybe I'll skip the corks but I'm still off to bed. That's it for now. Later.
I know it's early yet but this weekend one could sense Spring trying to nudge it's way in and send Winter packing. The weather was nicer then it's been in a while and I thought I heard the song birds again. I for one can't wait for Spring to get here and things come back to life again. However I must remember this is Kansas and we don't really start feeling safe that Spring is here until mid to late April.
Was watching the weather on the news last night and they were going on about this unusually mild and wet winter we've been having this year. The weatherman said this type of winter indicates we'll have a drought this summer. In fact he said the last time we had a winter like this was the winter preceding the dust bowl days. Now isn't that something to look forward to.
They are always preaching safety to us at work. So anyway what's wrong with this picture?!?!
Thankfully the guy on the ladder doesn't work for us.
With the weather being so shitty this weekend I stayed in and did some housework. Boy, how fun is that!! I don't know if I can stand many more of these exciting weekends. One of the things I did was work on sprucing up the hardwood floors in my apartment.
OK time to get my supper out of the microwave. That's it for now. Later.
Once again the weekend is doomed, well doomed as far as the weather is concerned. All through the week the weather was nice but once again when Saturday rolled around so to did the rain. I did manage to go down and get some food and other misc things I needed here, using that plastic money. Good thing I've about got all that I need because the plastic is just about maxed out. I'd post more but right now I just keep drawing a blank. That's it for now. Later.
Took this photo looking down our main street while waiting for my laundry to finish.
We sure grow some funny trees around here don't we.
Here's one for the books. Last November during a Kansas State University football game a man working for one of the concession stands made off with the days take instead of depositing it. The amount he made off with was $132,000. The police finally found him about a couple of months ago staying in a luxury suite in Las Vegas. He was brought back to Kansas and charged with felony theft to which he pled guilty. Now pay attention here's where the story takes a strange twist. When it came time for the judge to hand down the sentence to him he sentenced him to two years probation. Yep you read it right two years probation. Now what kind of message does that send? The one I'm seeing is go ahead come to Kansas so you can steal a massive amount of money and don't worry because if you get caught you won't even hardly get your wrist slapped, more like tickled. It just leaves this guy for one shaking his head. Go figure. That's it for now. Later.
I stopped by the store this evening on the way home from work. Whoa big mistake, I should know better then to stop at the store on Valentines Day, even as late in the day as it was. I swear over half of the town was in there buying cards, flowers, candy and anything else to do with this special day for lovers. Hmmm I wonder, if this is a day to show how much someone means to you and how much you care, then why are so many in the store frantically trying to buy something in the last minute?!?! Now as for me, a single guy with no special person in my life right now, this is but another day in the week. Oh alright I did get a card for my mom but that's it for me. Now I'm not trying to bring down this day for everybody, it's just not for me right now. However if you are lucky enough to have that special someone in your life and this day holds something for you then by all means I hope you had and are still having a very HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!!
My computer station set right next to my fake fireplace. That's it for now. Later.
Just a quick update as I sit here relaxing as the weekend winds to a close. A quick update because not much went on this weekend, it's hard to do much of anything when it rains the whole weekend. It could have been worse I guess it could've been snowing instead of raining.
I finding out there are down falls with going from a house with all the amenities available to an apartment. The biggest one I've noticed thus far is the lack of a washer and dryer. No more just going down to the basement to do laundry, now I have to pack all my laundry out to a Laundromat to do it. But hey, it's not an insurmountable burden it's just part of life's little twists one must get used to.
Oh yeah I now have a new photo hosting site thanks to Candy. So now I'll be able to keep sharing my pic's with you. That's it for now. Later.
Quickly closing in on the end of my first week back to work. And believe it or not it actually feels good to be back working again. However leave it to mother nature to welcome me back in style with almost five inches of snow falling during the day yesterday. Needless to say the drive home was long and slow. Not much else happening, I'm still trying to get settled in here. That's it for now. Later.
Ok so the big game is over and the parties have faded into memories. That is if you went to a super bowl party. Now not everyone is really into the super bowl and I'm one of those. The only time I'd be interested in the super bowl is if the Kansas City Chiefs were in it...and that doesn't look like it'll be happening anytime soon. Oh I had the game on alright but only to see what new commercials would be on. There were a few good ones some even funny. The two I liked best were the Bud Light one where the pilot jumps out of the plane after the beer and the frozen Mustang driver commercial. So, what were your favorite commercials or did you even watch?? Inquiring minds want to know. Later.
It's been raining here all day. But that's ok because I still had some cleaning and unpacking to do. I'm just about settled in to my new place though there is still some things I need to get. One thing I like about this new apartment is the huge living room and it seems even bigger since the only things I have in it right now are my TV and computer. Tomorrow I get to go back to doing something I haven't done in three weeks and that is go to work. It's been kind of a nice break but I'm actually looking forward to getting back to work.
I was uploading some pic's to my photo hosting site and realized it's about full. So I'm going to have to find another hosting site so I can keep sharing my pic's. Anyone out there know of any good (and by good I mean free) hosting sites?
It's starting to get late and I still have to get things ready for work tomorrow. So That's it for now. Later.
So after three long weeks and almost three thousand miles I'm back and ready to try and settle back into some sort of normal type of life again. For those who haven't heard, yes I'm back in Kansas. What started out as an adventure ended up being a living example of Murphy's Law because what could go wrong did go wrong and then some. To start off with just as I was about to set off for Phoenix I found out that there would be a delay in the house closing, but since I had already set things into motion I went ahead and went down there. Not having the finances I thought I'd have with the sale of the house it meant I would have to camp out in my sisters house far longer then I wanted to, so I decided to turn my trip into a week long visit and head back. Then a week ago Friday some personal things went down at my sister's house that not only resulted in me packing up and leaving the following morning but I also packed up and brought my mom with me back to Kansas. She's staying with my brother till things get straightened out. I spent the last week looking for a place to live. Thursday I came across this quaint and quiet old (circa 1928) apartment building and rented a one bedroom place. That's it pictured above.
The pic below is just one of many I was able to take while I was on the road. There will be more to come as I get them ready.
So there you have it, the short version of what's been going on with me the last few weeks. I will say it's good to be back online and back in the world of blogging. Right now I'm off to do some reading as I have a lot of catching up to do. Later.
